Data: Social and Economic
The foundation for sound decision making is current, credible, comprehensive data. Since the ultimate goal of coastal and marine spatial planning is sustainable economies and societies, it is critical that we expand our knowledge of how, where and when humans use the ocean, the economic and social values of specific uses like recreational boating and fishing, and how this information can be incorporated into a framework for understanding and fairly compensating displaced uses.
This group of MOP-supported projects better define the baseline information critical to understanding social and economic aspects of specific ocean uses.
