• Implementation of a comprehensive, integrated data network is an enormous task needing unprecedented levels of participation by data providers and funding to advance technology;

• Greater involvement by data providers during the design phase produces broader acceptance for implementation and use.

Development of a data network to facilitate information and data sharing is one of eight priorities identified in the MA OMP Science Framework to advance the basis for ocean management planning.
