Many other areas around the globe are currently engaged in marine spatial planning efforts.
The Project
The Massachusetts Ocean Partnership is in the process of compiling, categorizing and synthesizing all of the lessons learned during plan development; we will continue to document lessons learned during plan implementation and evolution at least through 2011.
Role in Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning
CMSP is an adaptive process that builds upon the good work of others; the sharing of lessons learned is standard practice.
Challenges & Applications
Certain MA lessons learned will be specific to our local political and stakeholder landscape, however, most are easily transferable.
